Chocolate covered strawberries tips

  1. Use top-quality strawberries and chocolate

This recipe has only two ingredients, so it helps to splurge a little and get the best you can. Sweet, ripe strawberries from the farmer’s market will be delightful. Chocolate should also be made from good ingredients so it melts smoothly and quickly.

  1. Dry the strawberries well

There shouldn’t be any droplets of water on your strawberries before dipping. Be extra careful.

  1. Use room temperature strawberries

Don’t use strawberries straight from the refrigerator. It will help the chocolate stick better to them.

  1. Temper your chocolate

Tempering chocolate is a little fancier but nothing a home cook should be scared of. Tempered chocolate will harden and set well on the strawberries, giving you a professional look.

What chocolate to use for chocolate covered strawberries?

There’s something so classic about chocolate and strawberries. They’re a perfect match, just like a chocolate and wine pairing.

But can you use just any chocolate? Better quality will enhance the natural flavors of chocolate and help you create a more decadent dessert. Go for semisweet or dark chocolate.

  1. Pour a few inches of water into a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Place a heatproof bowl over the saucepan. Just make sure the water doesn’t touch the bowl.

  1. Add 3/4 of the chocolate into the bowl. Whisk until the chocolate has melted.

  1. Take the bowl off the heat.

  1. Add the remainder of the chocolate to the bowl. Stir continuously.

  1. Now, your chocolate is tempered. Let it cool for a few minutes.

  1. Start dipping!

How do you get chocolate to stick to strawberries

Water is the number one reason the chocolate isn’t sticking to your strawberries. Follow these top tips to avoid that situation:

Before any dipping, make sure the strawberries are completely dry. Pat them with a towel after washing and then leave them to air dry. It may seem excessive, but it is the secret to acing this dessert just like the professionals.

Another essential tip to remember is don’t let any water into the melted chocolate. Prevent this by drying the bowl well before putting in the chocolate. Also, if using a double boiler, don’t let the simmering water below touch the bowl.

How long do chocolate strawberries last?

These decadent and delicious chocolate covered strawberries will be at their freshest and glossiest when eaten the same day they’re made. You’ll be lucky if you can resist them for long.

However, chocolate strawberries can last up to 1 or 2 days. Waiting any longer will give you mushy, watery strawberries that won’t be appetizing. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
